L'antica sapienza del Veda

L’antica sapienza del Veda was the title of the lecture given by Stefano Piano (University of Turin) in the meeting promoted in Udine on 26 Novembrer 1999 by the Società  Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori», in collaboration with the «Forum di Aquileia», after addresses of welcome by Paolo Maurensig, councillor of the Municipal Authority of Udine, and Fausto Freschi, president of the Società  Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori».

According to Stefano Piano, the mystic syllable OM was regarded by the ancient seers as the seed of each prayer, the sound par excellence, the phoneme unalterable, imperishable essence of all sounds. Thus, the word of truth was in every verse of the sacred texts of the Vedas (the ancient wisdom), called mantras, formed the basis for the speculation that led to the idea of the Absolute (brahman nirguna) as pure transcendence quiet sounds inaudible, subtle essence.

At the end of the lecture, given at Palazzo Belgrado, the seat of the Provincial Authority of Udine, the video Ramanavami directed by Benedetto Parisi (Società  Indologica «Luigi Pio Tessitori») was presented.
